Schools should follow their own or their district's policy in recording grades. A student may only repeat a course in which a D or an F was earned.

In this case, if the student repeated the course and earned an A or a B, the higher grade would not be counted. An admitted student whose academic achievement has dropped in senior year should immediately contact the admissions office of the campus to which he or she was admitted and let them know. During the selection process, however, campuses may apply locally determined rules and might include one unit of D in the calculation of the student's GPA.

May a student who receives a C in an "a-g" course in the ninth grade repeat the course in the 10th grade and try for a higher grade?
